We wanted to see the John Wayne and Iowa Quilt Museums.
The park was alive with gnomes, wood sculptures, and wildlife.
We ate a sports bar, at Frosty’s, and the best meal was at Crouse’s in Indianola where we were served by the owner.
We never saw the movie, The Bridges of Madison County, but this is where it was set. Clark Tower was here in the park.
The Iowa Quilt Museum is one reason why we came to Winterset.
The John Wayne Museum was the second reason we wanted to stop in Winterset. The Duke’s childhood home is also here.
Like always, we stumbled across something good that was unexpected, in this case, the Madison County Historical Museum and the 1856 Bevington Mansion.
We went to Indianola one day for lunch, two quilt stores, and a soda shop.
We always catch some interesting pictures, and ElizaBeth likes to find quilt blocks.
