ElizaBeth and I made our home in New Mexico in 2008 and Livingston, TX is our domicile, but I grew up in the Dallas Fort Worth area, went to college at TCU, and have lived and worked in Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas, Watauga, Colleyville, Plano, Richardson, Denton, and Gainesville – and it’s where 5 out of our 8 grandkids are growing up.

Before we settled in, we went to eat at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit and ElizaBeth liked this Big 12 map.

We drove longer than we liked but stayed on US Highway 281 to take it a little slower. Then we were assigned a temporary spot since the park was full and they had let us in two days early.

We spent our first night in the spot by the barn without a sewer hookup, but we had plenty of room in the tanks so it was not a big deal. The next day, the office offered to move us to a full hookup site so that we would not have to move again.

Then – while ElizaBeth was heading back from Julia and Nick’s, a hail storm hit. Elizabeth caught a few small dings in the hood that you have to look to see, and the RV survived with no damage at all. A hail repair firm came through the park and offered us a rental car and a no deductible claim form, but we declined. These dents are hardly visible.

Naturally, we took time to see old friends and visit with grandkids. I called Charlie Jackson who had been my boss, and we met up with David Reynolds and Randy Salsman at the University of North Texas (UNT). Dave and Randy took us on a tour of the new facilities at UNT that included Joe Greene Hall, the renovations at the Union, and their new support services facility.

Charlie and I got in a game of golf at Bridlewood and joined up with another twosome – who asked me about my Mr. Hawk golf bag (Google Haubold and hawk). Pat and I also had an opportunity to meet for dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse.

We have had lots of time with Seth and Lily, and some with Aiden.

We took Wesley and William to Rainforest Cafe, where everything moves except the food.
