This is one of our favorite stops, at least when Grapevine Lake is not flooded.

We found a great barbecue place on the way in, Meat Anywhere.

On Friday morning, we punched “breakfast” into Google, and discovered a winner with Local Diner. Then that night, we went to dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse with Kyle, Stacy, Libbey, Hunter, and Davis, where we celebrated ElizaBeth’s birthday and the other October birthdays, Libbey and Kyle.

Saturday was the Texas State Fair with Stephanie and her boyfriend. ElizaBeth and I have always enjoyed the bird show – this year it World of Birds: Soar and Steve Martin, who we have always like and who has retired, joined the show for this first week. We were lucky, as he said he was flying back to Florida after this show. We rode the Texas Star Ferris Wheel, saw the quilts, and the Hall of State in Dallas’ Fair Park, the “home” of the Dallas Historical Society.
Sunday was busy! We started by visiting Julia and her family, then had brunch with Amber and her family at the Hard Eight.

We had a nice spot at the campground, at the places we revisit we have learned the spaces we like. I always wonder: a white crane was here last time – is this the same one?
