We had several errands to tend to in the nation’s oldest capital city, and we were excited to be back in New Mexico. We had originally hoped to route through Las Cruces but just didn’t have enough time to get from Point, TX to Santa Fe, NM to make that work. We’ve pretty much decided that 200-250 miles per day is our range.

We had stayed on I40 for a good bit of the way but turned off at Clines Corners, originally the intersection of U.S. Route 66 and US 285. This bottom picture is from their website.
We were a little unsure about campgrounds, although we simply got lucky again. It’s a beautiful place, everything smells so fresh with the pines and junipers.

These pictures are from the hiking trail that surrounds the park. I love the hand-made gabion on the trail.

We very much wanted to attend the celebration of life service for Ronn Jones, who was a dear friend and a very fine person.
Spouses are usually neglected at company functions, and ElizaBeth will always remember Ronn for going out of his way to make her feel at home at NMSU events. We were privileged to be able to pay our respects.
Godspeed, my friend.
