Magnolia RV Park
Goodrich is something of our base, it was the first place we really parked for any length of time. We got to know the people and like everyone, especially Lesley, the owner. We were joined by a Swainson’s hawk.Continue reading “Goodrich TX, with Lesley and old friends while looking for the wayward turkey”
The Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum and the painted churches were closed when we were in Hallettsville last Memorial Day, so we had those on our bucket list for when we came back through. We weren’t disappointed.Continue reading “Schulenburg TX tours: St. Mary Catholic Church and the Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum”

Schulenburg RV Park
As badly as we wanted to get to Goodrich and Magnolia RV Park, our rule is no more than 200 miles per day – and we prefer 150 maximum. That meant a stop in Schulenburg, just down the road from Heather and Hallettsville. Heather brought us lunch!
When we went on the Shop Hop at the RV Quilters Retreat, we liked Bandera and wanted to go back.

Johnson Creek Resort and RV Park
In this our first year of the retirement adventure, I taught Toolkits at UTEP and the University of Houston and spoke at the Midwest Higher Education Compact in St. Louis. I was able to teach at South Dakota State in Brookings, South Dakota; at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas; and present on Master Planning at APPA Annual Conference in Denver with Heather. I went to Santa Fe, New Mexico for a consulting job, and to Dayton, Ohio for another one. When Elizabeth wanted to go to an RV Quilting retreat, it was my turn to follow her.

We stopped in Comanche on the way to Ingram, the chickens behind us would come over to check us out each morning.

Wagon Master RV Park
This is our 3rd time at Wagon Master RV Park and Alpaca Farm. This park is always so nice and clean and the owners take good care of the park – both animals and RV owners! And, it’s close to grandkids and many old friends.
There were two great museums in Vernon, the Red River Valley Museum on the Vernon College Campus, and the Wilbarger County Historical Museum.

Rocking A RV Park
We wanted to see something different along this route, and so stopped in Vernon TX. This stop turned out to be a lot of fun, as we found not one but two really good museums. I did a separate page for them so we can share all the pictures.
