We had talked about coming to Grants before at Thanksgiving, but didn’t make it. We’re glad we made it back, from the very start the KOA was great – a cookie for us and dog treats for the K9s.
We took our usual drive to look around, and realized that the New Mexico Mining Museum would be closed on the next day, so we dropped in. All museums have a different approach, the basement was fixed up as a uranium mine. Afterwards we went El Ranchero Cafe to get my chile fix – I had chile relleno with a real chile!
On Sunday we went to the Ice Cave and Bandera Volcano.
The K9s got their dog park – three actually – and the campground was surrounded by lava. I left my last two painted stones. The KOA had a “Lava Trail.”
For an art project, the city set painted satellite dishes. There were three parks, and this Route 66 Drive Thru.
