Pawnee Sate Recreation Area (SRA), Fort Kearney SRA, and Windmill SRA were the Chain of Lakes stops – and all three were winners as far as places to stay. Kearney was special because we had a chance to visit with Lee and Patty.
Lee and Patty pulled their Scamp into a spot several sites over, but the weather was really uncooperative and we didn’t get to sit outside except for that first day. I didn’t get to fish here either, and ours was a beautiful spot with a pier right by the coach. Our first night, they took us out to eat at Skeeter Barnes.
Lee and Patty were our informal tour guides, taking us to the Archway and Pioneer Village. Elizabeth and I also went to the Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center. We took so many pictures that we created a separate page for the museums. We had seen the Archway when we were here in 2019 and it was on our “bucket list.”
I also got the VIP Tour f University of Nebraska Kearney from Lee, and I met with his leadership team.
The weather was a little better the day we left, we decided that we could come back to any of the Chain of Lakes Parks.
