Beavers Bend Cabins with Kyle

Kyle will be starting a submarine tour soon, and wanted to take a break. We planned this trip back in April, and booked a cabin at Beaver’s Bend State Park in Broken Bow, OK. Actually, the park is in Hochatown. We started our trip at New York Subway in Denton for old time’s sake.

We had a fishing guide lined up for Thursday, and a tee time at Beavers Bend golf course on Friday. On the drive in, the guide called us to say that the lake as closed because the boat ramps were underwater. We called the golf course and discovered that it was closed too. We heard different numbers, but the area received something like 6″ of rain in 4 hours.

After calling around, we found a guide that would take us fly fishing on the river, and booked a tee time at nearby Idabel Country Club. When we arrived, we checked in and then drove through Broken Bow. Afterwards we went to Mountain Man Meat Market, and picked up wagyu and asparagus. We saved this little guy on the road.

On Thursday, we played golf at Idabel Country Club, and for dinner we went to the Foggy Bottom Kitchen, the restaurant in the park. After golf we drove around the park and looked at the two dams, the power plant, and the tourist beach and loop. We would up eating at the park restaurant both nights.

Friday started at 530am at Hochatime gift shop where we were outfitted with waders and fly rods. We went to the river for practice, then we went out in the flatboat. Afterwards we went to an ax throwing place!

We drove all over to look at the spillway and dam, it was a beautiful trip and great place.
